About This Role

Our ideal candidate will support our Lead Teacher and Director in delivering high-quality educational experiences, while adhering to our school's educational philosophy and policies.

What You'll Do

  • Helping to set up and maintain the learning environment and interest centers, preparing materials and supplies, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Supporting the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing the daily program, as well as general housekeeping tasks.
  • Supervising the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
  • Participating in professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education.
  • Treating all children with dignity and respect, and maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to the Preschool.
  • Performing other responsibilities as directed by the Preschool management or the Lead Teacher.
  • Assisting in planning and preparing the learning environment, and setting up interest centers.
  • Assisting the Lead Teacher in any other ways deemed necessary.

Requirements

The Assistant Teacher must be eighteen years of age or older. All employees are subject to satisfactory passing background checks as a condition of employment. Assistant Teacher should be able to lift at least 30 pounds. They must have a college degree, CDA and/or extended job experience in early childhood education. The person selected for this position must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to both children and adults, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school's educational philosophy, classroom procedures and curriculum guidelines.

About Us

First Presbyterian Preschool is hiring for the 2025-2026 school year. Positions available include lead teacher and assistant teacher, two to five days a week. The ideal candidate must possess a passion for teaching young children in a play-based preschool setting. FPP is accredited through the Associate for Early Learning Leaders and upholds their standards while using the Creative Curriculum as guidance for lessons. Potential schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:30am – 12:30pm during the school year, with the possibility for additional hours from 8:00am – 2:00pm.
