Job Summary

OrthoVirginia is seeking an Operating Room (OR) Lead RN to serve as a clinical leader and specialty expert within our surgical team. In this role, you will partner closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure every procedure is supported with the right people, equipment, and resources. You will mentor teammates, coordinate specialty services, drive quality initiatives, and help create an exceptional experience for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee a designated orthopedic surgical specialty or service line.
  • Partner with physicians to ensure equipment, instruments, implants, and supplies are available and ready for each procedure.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and leader for the OR team.
  • Support daily workflow, staffing coordination, and efficient patient throughput.
  • Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and adherence to evidence‑based perioperative practices.
  • Champion a positive, collaborative culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and exceptional patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, process improvement projects, and service excellence efforts.
  • Assist with onboarding, education, and ongoing development of OR team members.
  • Support operational goals, including productivity, supply utilization, and resource stewardship.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address patient safety, risk management, and continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Recent Operating Room nursing experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, sterile technique, and surgical procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and fostering a positive team culture.

Compensation

Compensation Range: $41.25 – $61.88 per hour. Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
