Overview
Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring an Operating Room Attendant for the Main OR in Harrisonburg, VA. This is a full‑time, first shift position with required call.
Location: Harrisonburg, VA.
Work Shift: First (Days).
Hours: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Required call: every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), 24‑hour call.
Department Overview
We are made up of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of Cardio‑thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants. The CTOR surgical team is close‑knit and works with our Beacon award‑winning CCU staff for post‑operative care. Training and precepting for those new to the Cardiac Operating Room is one‑on‑one with our well‑trained staff offering best‑in‑class education. We want you to see our CTOR team succeed!

Responsibilities
The Operating Room Attendant supports professional staff in caring for the surgical patient. Responsibilities include transporting patients from inpatient/ER/ICU to the pre‑op holding area, cleaning operating room suites between procedures, stocking anesthesia supplies, cleaning anesthesia machines, transporting anesthesia machines and carts, transporting specimens and blood products, ensuring proper stocking of specimen containers, assisting in patient positioning, and preparing the operating room suite by opening sterile supplies onto the sterile field and ensuring all equipment is available for the surgical procedure.
Education
- High School Graduate or equivalent required
Certification / Licensure
- BLS within 90 days of hire required
Experience
- Environmental Service; acute care inventory supply; and operating room support preferred.
- Prior healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to transition between tasks efficiently required.
- Teamwork and communication skills required.
