Summary of Position:
The CNC Mill/Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC milling and lathe machines to produce precision parts that meet customer specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively to resolve manufacturing challenges.
Key Performance Indictors:
Set up and operate CNC milling machines efficiently and accurately; perform manual machining on lathes and mills as required
Produce parts that consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards
Maintain adherence to established procedures, process parameters, and safety guidelines
Collaborate with the Machine Shop Lead to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues
Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure tolerance compliance
Set up CNC machines, including tool selection, offsets, and program verification
Operate CNC mills and lathes in accordance with work instructions and blueprints
Manufacture fixtures and components for cable and connector assemblies
Inspect and verify parts using micrometers, calipers, comparators, gage blocks, and other precision instruments
Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards
Identify and report process improvements or production issues
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines
Proficiency in CNC mill setup and operation
Ability to read and maintain tight tolerances (0.0001)
Experience working with a variety of materials, including aluminum, steel, plastic, and brass
Ability to input and adjust tool offsets (e.g., end mills, drills) in CNC machines
Strong understanding of shop mathematics and precision measurement tools
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); certification or formal training preferred
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
TAR REQUIREMENTS:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorization from the U.S.
