COUNTER ATTENDANT – GJUSTA

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Pay: $18.42 per hour + tips 
Average actual hourly earnings, tips included: $28.00 – $33.00 per hour
Schedule: Weekend and flexible availability required

POSITION SUMMARY

Gjusta is looking for a friendly, attentive, and team-oriented Counter Attendant to provide knowledgeable and welcoming service in a fast-paced environment.

The Counter Attendant is a primary point of contact for our guests and is responsible for taking orders, processing transactions, preparing beverages, maintaining service areas, and working closely with the Front and Back of House teams to ensure smooth service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome guests and provide prompt, knowledgeable service.
• Take orders and process transactions accurately using the POS system.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, beverages, and daily changes.
• Prepare espresso and other beverages according to Gjusta standards.
• Make thoughtful menu and product recommendations.
• Work with the BOH team to help expedite orders efficiently.
• Keep counter and service stations clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service.
• Complete opening and closing duties.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and alcohol-service requirements.
• Communicate guest concerns or service issues promptly to management.
• Support teammates and other stations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1–2 years of restaurant, café, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Barista experience preferred.
• POS and basic cash-handling experience.
• Strong communication and guest-service skills.
• Ability to stay organized and work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices.
• Familiarity with applicable Department of Public Health food-service requirements.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds. This role may require bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive movements while working around restaurant equipment, hot surfaces, and cleaning products.
