Bower Santa Monica is a new restaurant opening this September at the Colorado Center, a premier 15-acre office campus in Santa Monica. Bower, spanning 6,500 square feet, brings together California Coastal cuisine with influences from Australian café culture as well as Mediterranean and Southeast Asian flavors. From daytime espresso, grain bowls, and smoothies to evening shareable plates, whole-grilled fish, and cocktails.

Founded by restaurateur Dave Harper (Bondi Harvest, Amigo Roasters, Likeminded Wellness Club, El Chucho) in partnership with BXP and New School Hospitality, Bower is rooted in a love of surfing, coastal living, and genuine community. With warm, earthy interiors, open-air accordion doors, and an outdoor patio, we’re creating a laid-back yet vibrant gathering space for the people who work, live, and play on the Westside.

Position Overview

As a Host at Bower, you are the first point of contact for every guest and play an essential role in creating a welcoming and memorable experience. Your ability to set the tone from the moment guests arrive is integral to our service model. Through genuine hospitality, exceptional communication, and strong organizational skills, you’ll help manage the flow of the restaurant while ensuring every guest feels valued.

The ideal candidate is warm, confident, highly organized, and passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Ability to work with honesty and integrity
• Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude that reflects our Core Values
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include mornings, late nights, weekends and/or holidays
• Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Ability to comply with the uniform requirements and dress code
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions/information

Core Responsibilities:

• Determine seating before service
• Greet Guests as they approach the host stand
• Answer the phone and take reservations
• Seat Guests
• Manage the waitlist and timing of reservations
• Communicate Guest preferences to service team and managers
• Support other staff in order to maintain the restaurant service, aesthetic, and cleanliness
• Assist as needed with any training or feedback of new employees
• Actively monitor and maintain speed of service in conjunction with providing excellent Guest experiences
• Actively maintain restaurant cleanliness and personal appearances up to our standards

Compensation and Benefits 

• $20.00–$22.00/hour 
• Additional tip earnings
