La Morocha is a modern Mexican restaurant opening in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, led by acclaimed Chef David Castro. Chef wants to bring Baja comfort food to LA using local ingredients creating a “Borderless California”.

We’re looking for a Service Manager who leads from the floor, inspires their team, and is passionate about creating memorable guest experiences.

Position Summary

The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing daily front-of-house operations while ensuring every guest receives exceptional hospitality. This role is highly visible and requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, develops people, and maintains the highest service standards.

The ideal candidate is organized, emotionally intelligent, detail-oriented, and committed to building a positive, high-performing team culture.

Responsibilities

Guest Experience

• Lead service each shift with an active floor presence.
• Ensure every guest receives warm, personalized hospitality.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and proactively.
• Build relationships with regular guests and foster guest loyalty.
• Support VIP recognition and special guest experiences.

Leadership & Team Development

• Coach, mentor, and develop servers, bartenders, support staff, and hosts.
• Lead daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing service education.
• Hold the team accountable to service standards and company policies.
• Conduct performance coaching and disciplinary conversations when necessary.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new team members.

Operations

• Manage daily floor operations and service flow.
• Ensure proper staffing levels and labor efficiency.
• Oversee opening, shift change, and closing procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational excellence throughout the restaurant.
• Communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure seamless execution.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Build and manage staff schedules.
• Review daily sales, labor, and operational reports.
• Assist with payroll approvals and timekeeping.
• Support inventory controls and operational systems.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and labor regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of management experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant
• Strong knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and hospitality
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills
• Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
• Proven experience coaching and developing hospitality professionals
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
• ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or ability to obtain)
• Responsible Beverage Service certification preferred
• Previous restaurant opening experience is a plus
