Skyryse is looking for a Mechanical Engineer focused on mechanisms to own the full lifecycle of key mechanical LRUs (line replaceable units) for our rapidly expanding portfolio of fixed wing and rotorcraft platforms.

Our mission is to bring a new era in flight, making flying simple and safe. Our SkyOS operating system gives aircraft a fly‑by‑wire flight‑management solution that reduces complexity. Skyryse One is our first production aircraft, unveiled in 2024, featuring intuitive flight controls.

Location

Full‑time onsite opportunity based out of El Segundo, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, and test electromechanical actuators, control stick assemblies, and related mechanical assemblies.
  • Design, prototype, and test new mechanical items such as gears, shafts, bellcranks, actuator housings, electronics enclosures, motion assemblies, cockpit flight control locations, and instrument layouts.
  • Select and size related components like electric motors, potentiometers, LVDTs, RVDTs, gears, ball‑screw assemblies, bearings, and fasteners.
  • Own detailed drawings, geometric tolerancing, and dimensioning.
  • Use 3D modeling and 2D drafting to deliver production‑ready designs.
  • Perform tolerance stack‑ups, hand stress and kinematic calculations, motor and gear‑train analysis, FEA, and CAD to ensure they meet external and customer needs.
  • Conduct design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) analyses and collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure quality control.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in a full‑cycle role.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or CATIA.
  • Experience with structural static analysis, including hand calculations and FEA.
  • In‑depth knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Experience in production drawing release.
  • Familiarity with static, fatigue, shock, and vibration analysis.
  • Hands‑on build experience.
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience taking parts through final production release.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Hands‑on hardware experience with fabrication, assembly, or testing.
  • Experience with vibration/fatigue/shock analysis and testing.
  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Experience in failure investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware design.
