About the Job:

The Japanese-English Translator/Interpreter will primarily support the organization by providing high-quality Japanese-English translation and interpretation to enable clear, effective communication across global teams. This role serves as a key language resource for the U.S. office, Japan headquarters, and other overseas offices, contributing to smooth collaboration within KONAMI’s digital business operations. This role is centered on Japanese-English translation and interpretation as its core function, with additional responsibilities in coordination and operational support to contribute to effective cross-functional communication as business needs evolve. This position is intended for early- to mid-level language professionals seeking to further their skills within a multinational corporate environment. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Translate a wide range of internal documents, materials and communications between Japanese and English, ensuring accuracy, clarity and appropriate tone for the intended audience
• Provide Japanese-English interpretation support, primarily in consecutive settings, for meetings and discussions across teams and regions, ranging from one-one-one to larger group settings, held both in person and online
• Serve as a reliable language resource supporting clear and effective communication between the U.S. office, the Japan headquarters, and other overseas offices
• Support cross-functional coordination and related operational tasks to facilitate effective team collaboration.
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives where bilingual communication, cultural understanding and sound contextual judgment are required
• Participate in occasional domestic and international business travel, as needed, to support business activities

Qualifications

Required:

• Native or equivalent-level Japanese proficiency with a strong command of both spoken and written language, including the ability to process meaning and nuance effectively and express them clearly and naturally in professional contexts
• Professional working proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken business contexts
• Demonstrated ability to perform Japanese-English translation, with careful attention to nuance, intent, and audience
• Ability to perform interpretation in business settings, understanding meaning quickly, taking context into account and exercising sound judgment
• Constructive and professional approach to feedback, with the ability to incorporate input into work effectively
• Strong communication skills and adaptability, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, multinational, and cross-cultural environment
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent professional experience relevant to translation, interpretation, or bilingual communication
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)

Preferred:

• Experience working in a Japanese or Japanese-affiliated corporate environment, or familiarity with Japanese business practices and corporate culture
• Prior experience in Japanese-English translation and/or interpretation in an in-house, agency or freelance setting
• Interest in various types of entertainment content, including video games, movies, comics, animation, music, or related fields
• Openness to adapting to evolving workflows, tools and internal systems, as well as changing business needs in a collaborative environment
