Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering complex projects from concept through execution.

This role will oversee technical direction, project delivery, and team development, while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant standards. The successful candidate will also play a key role in shaping engineering processes, mentoring team members, and aligning technical efforts with broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance development
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and support career growth within the team
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
  • Define project scopes, milestones, and resource allocation plans
  • Act as a senior technical authority, resolving complex engineering issues
  • Drive design reviews, system architecture decisions, and implementation strategies
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and documentation practices
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical roadmaps to stakeholders and leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
  • Monitor team capacity, resource utilization, and project financials
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Implement KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering workflows
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when required, ensuring accuracy of sealed designs and documentation
  • Support field-related engineering activities, including RFIs, submittals, and design changes
  • Travel as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles with the ability to align technical work with business objectives
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
  • Solid understanding of project management practices (scheduling, budgeting, risk management)
  • Experience with packaged systems, vendor coordination, and drawing review processes
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, and constructability considerations
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, NFPA)
  • Experience delivering IFC-level design packages and stage-gate reviews
  • Experience with change management processes (MOC), RFIs, and field support
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting projects across procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Background in industrial, energy, or process-related engineering environments
  • Track record of improving engineering processes and team performance
