Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex tax returns, including consolidated returns with multi state and international filing components.
  • Handle intricate compliance tax research assignments and prepare tax memorandums.
  • Review and deliver tax projections to clients.
  • Assist clients with inquiries related to accounting and tax issues.
  • Meet with IRS and FTB agents to discuss examinations.
  • Review and mentor the work of interns, tax staff accountants, and semi-senior staff accountants.
  • Address tax questions from staff across all departments.
  • Conduct staff training on technical subjects and software, including preparing, teaching, and facilitating classes for the department.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in corporate, individual, and partnership taxation.
  • Manage multiple client engagements while also completing tasks related to business development.
  • Exhibit the ability to teach and train staff effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting; masters degree in business administration or taxation a plus.
  • At least 3 years of public accounting industry experience preferred.
  • Strong Tax Generalist background is a plus.
  • Strong accounting foundation (year-end adjustments, fixing client books, fluency in QuickBooks programs).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Knowledge of CCH software (CCH Axcess, Engagement) a plus.
  • Enrolled Agent / Certified Public Accountant license is a plus.
  • Experience with industries such as Real Estate, Manufacturing, Engineering, High Net worth individuals, and Individuals with trusts (multi-state international filings) is a plus.
