Position Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the financial activities of the business unit, including forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis, cost control, and operational finance in a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with executive and functional leaders to support strategic planning, financial decision-making, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead the creation, analysis, and reporting of financial forecasts and budgets.
- Establish and maintain budgetary control processes and financial performance metrics.
- Perform monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to forecast and budget; investigate significant variances.
- Create financial models and reports to support business decisions and operational planning.
Manufacturing & Operational Finance
- Manage the CAPEX planning, tracking, and reporting process.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and reporting.
- Develop and maintain OEM sales models based on production build rates.
- Establish shipset values for major platforms and conduct semi-annual reviews with Sales, Program Management, and Operations.
- Analyze gross margins and factory costs across forecast, budget, and actual results.
Accounting & Close Activities
- Participate in month-end close, with emphasis on financial analysis and variance investigation.
- Support general accounting, asset accounting, cost and pricing, payroll, and data processing activities.
- Ensure financial data integrity and alignment with ERP reporting structures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with department heads to build annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Develop departmental budgets aligned with headcount, compensation, EBIT targets, and ERP expense structures.
- Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
Compliance & Governance
- Support tax accounting activities and ensure timely filing of required returns and reports.
- Assist in policy development and implementation related to financial controls and procedures.
- Participate in financial reviews and support audits as required.
Leadership & Supervision
- Provide functional leadership to finance staff.
- Supervise and develop team members to support business objectives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
- MBA preferred
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in accounting and/or finance roles
- 10 years across major areas of accounting and finance within a manufacturing operations environment
- Experience with government accounting and financial analysis preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, forecasting, and financial modeling skills
- Solid understanding of manufacturing finance and cost accounting
- Strong knowledge of Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)
- Ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Experience developing and implementing financial policies and procedures
