Under direction of LAWA, this role supports operational business units by documenting, analyzing, and recommending solutions to current and future airport operational challenges.The Engineer II serves as a technical resource in airport/aviation planning (Airside/Terminal focus) and will conduct and manage technical studies, data analysis, and simulation/modeling to improve operational efficiency and capacity.Key Responsibilities:* Coordinate with LAWA operational business units to identify and document inefficiencies and recommend process improvements related to airside and terminal operations.* Collect and analyze aviation operational data, including: + Historic and upcoming flight schedules + Aerobahn(airfield operations tracking; gate/stand monitoring) + Baggage handling data + Space occupancy data + TSA and CBP staffing, equipment usage, and utilization* Develop gated flight schedules for upcoming seasons.* Develop baseline gate/counter assignments and allocations for common-use facilities.* Prepare, review, and/or lead studies and analyses focused on: + Improving operational efficiency and capability + Increasing airport operational capacity + Managing and reducing delays + Operational changes due to construction, policy, safety, or other requirements impacting airport operations* Perform simulation/modeling and operational analysis, including: + Working knowledge of CAST Gate/Stand Allocation + Familiarity withSimioor comparable passenger processing/flow simulation tools + Gate utilization analysis and queueing/passenger processing analysis + Reviewing modeling methodology/assumptions/parameters from third parties or other projects* Conduct field observations for data collection and operational understanding.* Review massing/stacking and conceptual layout plans from an operational/functional perspective.* Review preliminary concept drawings and provide recommendations to improve layouts and space utilization (airside and terminal).* Produce sketches for layout/space allocation improvements for further evaluation.* Coordinate with commercial, operations, maintenance, and other stakeholders to validate assumptions, review results, and refine recommendations.* Develop reports and presentations for stakeholders and airport leadership.*Minimum QualificationsRequired Experience *5–12 yearsof experience in airport planning, operations, simulation, and/or data analysis. *Proficiency withMicrosoft Office / MS 365 tools. *Experience withCAST (aircraft gate/stand allocation). *Experience withSimioor similar processing/flow simulation software.Required Education *Bachelor’s degree (or higher) inIndustrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, City/Urban Planning, Architecture, Aviation, Business, Operations Research, or a related technical field.Preferred Qualifications *Experience with data/statistical tools such as Python, R, SAS. *Experience with analytical and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Tableau. *Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, GIS or related design/engineering platforms.Working Hours & Location:* *Full-time, exempt role with standard business hours. *Hybrid work arrangement. *Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. *May be required to work beyond the regular shift or varying shifts as needed.*Compensation Range: $128,960 – $137,280 annually; Eligible for Bonus.What’s In It for You: *List benefits as applicable* – Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, and vision)* Company-paid life and disability insurance* Optional benefits like pet insurance, legal, and supplemental health plans* 401(k) with day-one eligibility, 3% safe harbor, plus up to 2.5% company match* Generous time off: 10 paid holidays and PTO starting at 15 days, growing up to 25* Access to Consertus Academy for continuous learning and developmentHow to Apply:IIf you are an airport operations/planning analyst with strong data analytics and simulation experience and are interested in supporting LAWA’s airside/terminal operational planning work, we’d like to hear from you.
