VP, Compliance

Job Type: Full-time; Hybrid

Responsibilities

  • License Qualifier for the company
  • Monitor and provide consultation on international business compliance
  • Provide international compliance training and education for employees
  • Review and approve customers and vendors
  • Communicate with U.S. Customs and ensure prompt responses to US Customs inquiries.
  • Maintain FMC compliance as well as understand FMC regulations with the ability to re-file tariff schedules.
  • Complete FMC re-filing and conduct related employee training
  • Plan and conduct internal customs entry audits to ensure error‑free operations and regulatory compliance
  • Minimize late ISF entries as well as ensure timely customs entries and duty payments.
  • Acquire and maintain C-TPAT certification
  • Provide continuous internal education and training to comply with law and regulation for international business compliance and prevent import and export regulation violations
  • Evaluate, introduce, and utilize compliance tools for customs operations and customer inquiries
  • Implement AI technology for commodity classification
  • Supervise, maintain and update company policy documents and licenses
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist with implementation for the operations department
  • Automate manual operational processes
  • Develop and maintain the company’s compliance program (policies, procedures, manuals).
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state laws, as well as applicable international regulations.
  • Function as the liaison with the company to align compliance functions between the group and local practice standards.

Experience

  • Holding a US Customs Broker License is required
  • 10+ years of logistics or transportation experience is needed
  • 10+ years in managing a team is needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Import customs operation and international forwarding experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and work experience in legal affairs is preferred
  • Ability to communicate professionally with U.S. Customs officers and internal senior leadership
  • Strong leadership and staff development skills
  • Knowledge of Logistics, Supply Chain, and International regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
